Christmas Quilt Back

This is the back of the Christmas Quilt. I couldn't figure out post both pictures at the same time and have the front of the quilt be on top of the post, so I did 2 separate posts. I made the back out of flannel for the suggle factor. I also added a personalized embroidered label which is something I plan to do to all of the quilts that are gifts for family and friends.

Christmas Quit

I made my first Christmas Quilt this past December, I hope to make a few more this year so all of our adult children have one. I have been collecting Christmas fabric for several years so I'll have a good supply to choose from! It seems like I like blue Christmas fabric because that is the color that is predominate in the bags I have it stuffed in. LOL

One thing leads to another.

I wanted a little more storage for my fabrics so everything could be stored a little more neatly. I already had a 9 cube shelf in my closet so I decided to buy another and replace a 2 shelf unit that was also in the closet but didn't hold fabric. In order to fit it in I had to pull everything out of the closet and cram it in my sewing room until I get everything arraigned. This is going to be really nice when it's done but it's turning into a 3 day job with a carry over. The carry over is I ordered some very nice crystal clear plastic men's shoes boxes to keep my scraps for string quilting, so I have to wait for them to arrive before I'll be completley finished. I've been using regular shoe boxes for some of my scraps and it will be a lot nicer to see through the boxes. I also keep some of my scraps in baskets which I will not be replacing because I like the way they look. Anyway here's my mess :o)

Little Lucky's Little "Brother"

Little Lucky recently received a new “brother”. You might say he was a late Christmas present since we got him on the 28th of December. He’s a real sweet Golden Retriever pup named Dutch.

Quilt for a friends Granddaughter

A friend of mine from highschool had his first grandchild a year or so ago and I thought it was a perfect time to try to practise a new type of quilting. The first quilt I made was what is sometimes called as a pillowcase quilt since it is constructed in a similar manner as a pillow case. This little quilt was a lot more work than the one I made for my Grandson Luke but it was a lot of fun and not to difficult at all. It was made in the regular quilt method with batting sandwiched between the quilt top and back. I made a scrappy binding for it. It's called a triple rail fence pattern. I didn't use a pattern (this is a big fault of mine!) but read how to do it on the internet :o) This is the first quilt that I ever put binding on and I discovered something....I LOVE binding! Pretty funny ..huh? I did stitch in the ditch quilting, but I have been teaching myself to do free motion quilting which I hope to do on some of my future quilts.

First quilt

I decided to make a small tied quilt for my grandson before he was born. Luckily I gave myself lots of time since it was the first quilt I ever tried. It was a very easy pattern that I got from a wonderful, helpful website that I frequent http://everythingsewingforum.net/index.php the only problem was that I decided to use flannel and fleece and fleece is very stretchy when you sew it.

First large fleece blanket

This is a picture of the first large fleece blanket that I made. I was very happy with the way it turned out. The black and cream of both prints matched perfectly and my friend Alberta remembered to tell me to cut the squares off of each corner before tying. This is why I'm not posting the picture of the very first tied blanket I made! Ha Ha, that's not really true, I didn't think to take a picture of it :o) BUT I didn't know you were supposed to cut a square out of each corner the same size that you were going to cut your fringe so it sure didn't turn out perfectly.
